Game Hatchery in the UK
Ashley Game Farm is one of the few remaining large breeding pheasant and partridge hatchery farms in the UK. Have a look around our website, or give us a call for more information about our partridge and pheasant hatchery farm in Devon and Hereford.
A new hatchery was planned in 2000. This involved a modern steel-framed building, an increased electricity supply, new incubators and hatchers, tray wash, chick counter etc.
With a huge investment facing us, it was decided to phase the hatchery so as to make it reasonably self-funding. Every year since 2001, the hatchery has increased productions inside the original modular building, to the extent that we now have a hatching capacity for 410,000 eggs per week, along with further investment in a second location at Tarrington, Hereford.
Our facilities include:
- The Ashley Egg Wash (available to buy)
- Temperature Controlled Egg Store
- Egg Fumigation Cabinets
- Filtered Air Supply
- Automated Tray Washing
- Chick Counter
- Fully Automatic Candling & Egg Transfer
- Egg Setting Machine
The chick counter counts all chicks off the conveyor with 100% accuracy to ensure that all customers have a full complement and including the customary 2% FREE of charge on delivery. Different species of pheasant eggs are segregated into separate incubators and hatchers to avoid breed mixing.
Hatching is carried out twice a week. Around 80,000 chicks are retained at Ashley Game Farm every week.
